Riding the Wave of Life

Riding the Wave of Life

The past couple of weeks have been a very busy time in my life. So many things are happening and I could not help but to really take a step back and look at my life from afar. These types of moments, for me at least, do not happen too often. When they do, I really get into it and analyze who I am and where I am. I challenge myself daily and hold myself to a very high standard. Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes it is a bad thing. I feel that times like this are important for an individual so one can see where they are compared to where they have been. This sounds very simple, but it is not. When we get going in life it is easy to see the next step, but often times you lose focus on the big picture. I always compare it to the difference of someone you see everyday and someone you see once a year. It is easy to see the changes in the person you only see once a year because you have a snapshot of where they were and over a given period of time you were unable to see their progression (or digression) and then you see another snap shot. So anyway, I feel like a lot is going on and I took the time to take a step back and look at my life from a different perspective and I really feel that this part of my life is the start of a new chapter.

I encourage everyone to do the same every once in a while. Life get’s fast and sometimes overwhelming. Don’t let it get the best of you. Even if things are going well, it is always good to take a step back and look at it from a fresh standpoint. Look at how great the economy was doing and how quickly that went south, right.

So I am looking at work and what I want to do and how I can make money doing it. I am looking at getting married in October, which is great, but a weird feeling. Between all of this and just trying to be more active and healthy has me in a whirlwind of emotion. Excitement seems to be the one seeping through most often and I am exactly that when I look at the future with the opportunities that lie in front of me and my two girls (Megan and Olivia) always behind me 100%.

Olivia Bowling

A few months back, we took Olivia bowling. I took some video but never really put it together until I had a little down time over the weekend. I think it was probably March when we took her. Megan and I were thoroughly impressed by her ability to carry the ball herself and throw it down the lane. I helped it forward, slightly, just so it would not take an hour each time, but everything else was all her. She even stood at the end of the lane and watched the ball all the way down to see if it knocked any pins down. I know it is early and I am probably making something of nothing, but that tells me that she understands the objective and is actively interested in the outcome. I think we have an athlete on our hands. I know a lot of quality athletes at the college level that don’t have the understanding of one thing causing another and ultimately leading to an end means (haha). Anyway, below is the video I put together. The song is by a group called Jurassic 5. I hope you enjoy.

Snuggle Buddy

Last night I got home from work and was super tired. I just have not been sleeping well for the past few weeks. Anyway, Liv still had not taken a nap either so I asked her if she wanted to go lay down with me. Much to my surprise, she agreed. So we went and laid down in our bed and she was talkative and fidgity as expected. After 10 minutes or so, I explained “Liv, it is time to be quiet, close our eyes and drift off to dream land.” I did not hear another peep and the next thing I know, two and a half hours later, I wake up next to Liv. We were both sleeping on our backs. She had Sarah (her baby doll) laying on her chest and I had SunnyT (her turtle built at Build-A-Bear) on my chest. Megan said it was the cutest thing she had ever seen but did not want risk waking us up just to get a picture.

Then we got up and went about our normal busines. Later we went to bed just as we do any other night. With the weather the way it was, I did not expect to sleep much. Luckily, the storms did not roll through until just after 6 this morning. Megan was up and out of the house early to get some work done and get to an early meeting. Liv woke up about 6:15 A.M. crying and scared of the thunder. I brought her back to bed with me and we both crashed immediately and slept into the morning. That feeling that she trusts me to protect her from something that scares her so much is a feeling I can not begin to describe in words. If you have been in my situation, you know what I mean.

I got to snuggle with my best girl twice in the matter of a few hours. So, needless to say, today has been a good day.
